Triclinium Last Supper Program

Today was my Last Sabbath at the Jerusalem Center. I don't think it has hit yet. And I think it might not hit until I get on the bus at two a.m. on Thursday to go to the airport. And then I will cry.

But, let's not dwell on that. Today was a glorious Sabbath. I had peanut butter french toast for breakfast, and then feasted on the Spirit all day. It was great. Can I just say that we have so many talented people in our group, and in our branch. There are so many people who work so hard, and make it a great experience. It doesn't help that this is my view during Sacrament:

And I'm sorry, I was trying to take it in stealth because I'm not quite sure if taking pictures during Sacrament meeting is "Kosher." And just so you know, this picture absolutely doesn't do it justice. It captures about 1% of the awesomeness.

Anyway, the other thing worth mentioning today on my blog is the Triclininium Last Supper Program that we had tonight. It was amazing. We read five chapters that are in John on the Last Supper, and had special musical numbers, all while we looked at a setting of how the table and everything would have looked during the Last Supper. President Brown taught us about the setting, and how everything would have happened, and then spoke a little bit about having the Savior in our lives. And how we can come to know him like a husband knows a wife and vice versa, or how we know our siblings, or best friends. It was an amazing night. Another one, here at the Jerusalem Center.

Here are some pictures of the set-up...

This is the Triclinium. I also learned today why we have exactly twelve beanbags in the Student Center....they're multi-purposeful..

The guys pretending they're disciples. There's a small space where Christ, as the head and guest of honor
Some of the guys didn't get the memo of leaning on their left arm and "eating" with their right..and ended up on their stomachs. Good work, brothers :)

And the ones with people were all taken mid-program and therefore they were covert also because I didn't know if that was allowed...

Anyway, there are the highlights! I love you guys!

  1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I also went to Jerusalem, but sadly never had a chance to experience the triclinium dinner. I don't remember where I first heard about it, but after reading several other blogs about the same subject, I decided to create a video that would talk about the seating arrangement of the Last Supper at a triclinium. You might be interested in watching it. You can see it on my blog at: http://redeemer-of-israel.blogspot.com/2012/04/setting-of-last-supper-triclinium.html
